With the recent news, it looks like the UK might be waiting a while for holidays abroad. But, that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of places to go visit and relax on home shores, once restrictions begin to ease.
With so many places to visit, where in the UK are people most interested in visiting for a relaxing trip away?
To find out, our car rental data analysts have delved into recent bookings people have been making.

The internal data revealed that London has seen the biggest increase in bookings, with residents of the big city booking more car rentals in comparison to the rest of the country. So, perhaps Londoners are escaping to the countryside after months of being stuck indoors.
However, in comparison, Scottish bookings have been sparse.
This may suggest that people are waiting until more news about easing restrictions breaks, before booking their next trip away.
Are people planning their trips and holidays yet?
But, how many people are taking the plunge, and booking anyway?
Our analysts found that there has been an increase in bookings since the government’s announcement of the roadmap.
In fact, we found that there had been a 6% increase in our bookings for the month of April, before and after the day of the announcement alone.
Bookings have been made from the day that restrictions begin to lift mid-April, all the way through the rest of the year.
Our analysts also found that there were more bookings in summer than any other time in the year.
So, are we looking for a quick weekend away, or will the UK be a replacement for a long summer’s holiday abroad?
Our data revealed that most customers were booking longer trips, with 72% of bookings being for five days or more. In fact, most people seemed to be looking to go away for a whole week.
The UK offers so many amazing spots when it comes to holidays and weekends away, so the only question is where should our next staycation be?
