Both residents of Germany and visitors to Germany alike speak highly of Zoo Osnabruck, probably because it succeeds where many other zoos fail: the facility is very spacious, which happily gives the animals plenty of space to graze and roam. The area is rather hilly, as well, so expect a full tour of the zoo to leave you somewhat tired -- and extra glad your rented car is waiting to get you back to your hotel! Later, why not take a drive to the Cathedral Dom Sankt Petrus? The size alone is awe-inspiring, but equally extraordinary is the way that the ancient structure, several times destroyed and rebuilt since its construction in the eighth century, is an amalgamation of Germany's numerous architectural styles, from the original Romanesque-Gothic to the later Baroque style. Rather conveniently, adjoining the cathedral is the Diocesan Museum Osnabrück, although by renting a car you can also head over to the remarkable Felix Nussbaum Haus museum. Designed by one of Germany's pre-eminent architects Daniel Libeskind, this moving display allows the art of Felix Nussbaum to live on, after the man himself perished in Auschwitz.
